Alzheimer's disease is the leading cause of dementia - a set of symptoms that includes the loss of memory, judgement and reasoning, and changes in mood and behaviour. People may mistakenly assume that such behaviour is a normal part of aging; It is not.

The Alzheimer Society of Brant offers several programs and services which are listed on this website to assist caregivers in relieving some of the stress and challenges associated with caring for persons with Alzheimer's disease.

Calling for Research Applications! The Alzheimer Societies of Hamilton and Halton, Brant, Haldimand Norfolk and the Niagara Region are committed to supporting research at the local level that will be broadly representative of the needs of all four communities. We will consider applications for both financial and non-monetary research support. Applications for financial support could include requests for funds to offset graduate student research or budgetary support for small applied clinical research or pilot projects. The amount that the Alzheimer Society will fund is up to $15,000. Non-monetary support could include assistance in accessing study subjects for external researchers engaging in clinical research or program evaluation. Please review the Terms of Reference and complete the Research Application form by the designated date. For more information contact programdirector@alzbrant.ca.
